How Belief Systems are Created

Can You Believe It?

Have you ever wondered why the world is full of so many people of different belief systems? Well, there are probably as many individual beliefs as there are humans on this planet, and that’s because our beliefs are created in accordance with our experiences since birth.

Our experiences are the accumulation of sensory recordings perceived by the brain during every encounter we’ve ever had. In essence, every sight, smell, sound, touch or taste that you’ve encountered – has been recorded and stored in the subconscious and filed under "how life works" in any given subject.

So no matter whether these events were bad, good, or indifferent, your subconscious brain recorded and filed them for later use in how you navigate through the world. When a child touches a hot stove, the subconscious files the event under "be careful," or if a dog bites the child, the subconscious stores away the event under "avoid at all costs." And subsequent events can either reconfirm the belief about a subject, or balance it out with contrasting information.

In any event, you can see how useful this process can be in a human’s development and learning process. Whatever you hear, see, smell, feel, or taste during your earlier life – will have a definite effect on your worldview on any given subject.

This is a good thing, but it can also be a not-so-good thing, especially when you perceive the event in a skewed manner. For instance, if you ate a spoiled tuna sandwich when you were 7 years old, you may easily become ill at the smell or even thought of a tuna sandwich. And if you ate that sandwich while watching a popular cartoon on TV, you may unconsciously dislike that specific cartoon for the rest of your life.

Science didn’t understand just how significant these sensory recordings were until recently, when research showed how selected groups of people reacted to various sensory stimuli. Depending upon your age, gender, geographical history, culture and background, you will react either positively or negatively to literally thousands of different sensory elements. Think about how really diverse the world’s cultures are when it comes to music, fashion, foods, greetings, consumer products, fragrances, and even the dating game. We are absolutely a product of our environment and upbringing, and we find either pleasure, displeasure, or indifference in any one of these subjects.

Along with the basic survival instincts that are gained from our sensory experiences, our subconscious also gathers up information to establish our personal worldview on every subject. How you personally feel about sex, marriage, hygiene, government, guns, hunting, religion, and everything else – is a product of what your subconscious gathered and stored during your lifetime.

If you feel that rich people aren’t trustworthy or that men are all dogs, you perceived that feeling and established worldview somewhere along the way. And if you have a basic understanding of cause and effect, you’ll also understand that your worldview and expectations will perpetually create circumstances that will continue to confirm your beliefs about any given subject.

This process also plays out in mass conscious belief systems. However you think and feel about politics, race, gender, and cultural differences, will be made manifest in your own little personal universe, and these subsequent experiences will continue to confirm exactly what you always thought.

When it comes to religion, most of the world’s inhabitants profess to believe in one of about five major religions – and it’s obvious why. It’s primarily because of a person’s early environment, and secondarily because most religions use the power of the senses while establishing the rites, rituals and belief systems of the followers.

Visually, religions have inspirational iconography and dramatic architecture. Music and sounds are a major part of any religion. Scent has also been used throughout the ages, and touch and movement (kneeling, crossing, beads, etc...) are fundamental rituals. Food and tastes are used also – from the offering of food to taking communion.

Sensory elements can be found as part of every minute belief and major belief system that you employ. From the cradle to the grave, and every christening, wedding, and funeral you attend, the senses are all involved.

I AM Power uses this sensory research to identify your limiting beliefs, and to help you to erase and replace the negative belief systems that have been creating the obstacles in your success.
